*Review*
And so we’re now at the 8th part of Sabotage's long running Sound & Vision series, and this is rather a hit or miss affair. The first disc contains the already widely circulated (and freely available) performances from the Jay Leno Shows of 2008 and 2009,  plus appearances from The Ellen Degeneres Show, Coachella (yes, again...) and Detroit July 31, the latter two taken from Lotusflow3r.com.  The sound quality is excellent throughout the first disc and it’s great to finally have the incredible version of DMSR (Detroit, July 31, 2004) in such top, soundboard quality, however it’s worth pointing out that all of these tracks are technically MP3 sourced as they are taken from FLV and standard video.  Just to save any arguments........
Disc 2 is rather a loose collection of odds and ends, ranging from 3121.com and NPGMC material (seriously, who still needs ‘F.U.N.K.’ or ‘Glass Cutter’?) to a mixed bag of well known SBD snippets including ‘Satisfied’ and ‘Down By The Riverside’ from 2007-07-07.  There’s also the rather dubious inclusion of the Grammy Awards speeches from both Prince and Alicia Keys, which feels kind of misplaced here and too much like filler material. Add to that the fact that the 3rd August ‘07 performance was included on Volume 7 and it leaves the nagging feeling of this release suffering from either lack of creativity or material (or both) to justify the subtitle ‘Complete Live TV’. There’s still the superb performances of ‘All Along The Watchtower’ and ‘Best Of You’ to keep you smiling, but overall this lacks the coherence of previous entries to the series, particularly with Disc 2. To sum up, you get a couple of odd filler choices, a fraction too much widely circulating material, but a generally good overview of the 2007-2009 period........and most of it in crispy clear SBD quality.
